When Claire & Tom got in touch and asked me to photograph their wedding at Trevor Hall, just outside Llangollen in the stunning North Wales countryside close to the border with Shropshire and Wrexham, I was very excited. I’ve driven the Llangollen and Chirk route my whole life. At the very start of my life I was a little Welsh boy, then we moved to Shrewsbury Shropshire and then I leaded out to the bright lights big city that is Leeds! So this part of the world has always been part of my life. It felt great to be back, it’s such a nice part of the world.

I stopped on the road opposite Trevor Hall before I called at Claire’s parents house to capture a view of it across the valley. The sky was dramatic and I was running early. Shots like this are almost always worth the few minutes it take to get the tripod out of the car. I was also aware that the weather in this part of the world changes with the hour. But I didn’t need to worry, Claire & Tom had a lovely day ahead of them.

We were free to explore al the grounds as it’s a exclusive venue, which is always nice. The highlight has to be the view down the Valley from Trevor Hall to Chirk & Pontcysyllte Aqueducts, which are superb. You can catch a view of them in the back ground in a couple of the shots from the day…
